Unified Sports

Special Olympics Unified Sports® is a program that brings together athletes with intellectual disabilities and their peers without intellectual disabilities (called partners) on the same team for training and competition. Age and ability matching of athletes and partners is defined on a sport-by-sport basis.

In Special Olympics Kansas, there are a number of Unified Sports opportunities:

State Level -      Golf and Volleyball

Regional Level-  Metro Region: Volleyball,  Kansas Unified Sports League*, Golf and Basketball

                            Southeast Region: Golf

                            South Central Region: Softball and Golf

                            North Central Region: Softball and Basketball                        

*The Kansas Unified Sports League is a state-sponsored program in conjunction with area high schools and middle schools students to form school-based unified teams for competition in basketball, soccer and bocce.


If you are interested in becoming a Unified Partner, please contact the Headquarters office or the Regional Director for your region.
