The World Games are flagship events for the Special Olympics Movement. They take place every two years and alternate between Summer and Winter Games.

The 14th Special Olympics World Summer Games will open on 25 July 2015 in Los Angeles, California. The Games will feature competitions in aquatics, gymnastics, track and field, basketball, football (soccer) and many other summer sports.
More than 7,000 Special Olympics athletes from 170 nations will compete in 25 Olympic-type sports. The Games are a world stage for our athletes to demonstrate on the playing field their courage, determination and spirit of sportsmanship.
Three athletes from Kansas have been selected to attend training camp in October, 2013. Upon successful completion of the camp they will officially become members of Team USA.

Michael Bottom - Hutch/Reno Co. Hawks - Competing in Tennis
Chevi Peters - New Hope Bulldogs - Competing in Powerlifting
COACHES Coach Sid Kanter (Leawood) will accompany Team USA as the Head Tennis Coach and Coach John Lair (Pittsburg) will accompany Team USA as Assistant Powerlifting Coach.
LETR - Det. Kristi Powell, Topeka Police Dept. will represent Kansas in the Final Leg.
